OK I have a few kites from White Bird and they are not made from Ripstop it is sorta a taffetta type of fabric and I am trying to locate some.
To make a long story short my DBL French Military is in need of a replacment panel I feel confidant I can make the repairs if I could identify this fabric and figure out where to get some more.
to make this a fun post can some expert out there put in layman terms....
Differences in weights and types of fabric?
While were at it how about explaining the way to identify and figure out different size rods for kites... I am completely clueless about both.
Thanks,
Dennis |

Sounds like the material you quest for is, or something like, suit lining material.
The easiest way to matech it would be to take a swatch of the actual kite material with you to the fabric store and sic one of the fabric people on it. _________________

I think the folks at White Bird are the only ones still using that type of fabric. I got one of their Phenix kites last fall and it is made of the same type of material you described.
Have you been able to find them on the web, or at least locate a mailing address for White Bird? You may have to contact them directly about ordering replacement material from them.
