Kite Studio's double sided 1/4" acrylic
tape is great when trying to hold pieces of
ripstop together. When making a single folded
seam we recommend using it the following way:
Make your seam allowance the width of the
tape, place the tape on the "outside"
of the sew line, remove the backing, adhere the
second piece of fabric by matching the sew lines
(fabric front to front), then sew a straight
stitch on the line. Fold the seam over then
finish with a zig-zag top stitch. Simple, quick,
and strong. You can also incorporate it into a
double folded seam. When used to make
a strong "overlap" seam, make your seam
allowance the width of the tape. Place the tape
on the outside edge of one piece, remove the
backing then adhere the second piece by lining up
the outside edge of the second piece with the
inside edge of the tape on the first piece
(fabric front to back). Finish by sewing a
serpentine, or three step zig-zag down the middle. The
tape also comes in handy when positioning small pieces of
reinforcement, and pockets. |

If you experience tape build up on your
sewing needle it can easily be reduced or eliminated by
swabbing a little silicone onto your sewing needle.
Sewing with a bonded thread also helps reduce build up and
tension as the thread is bonded slightly with silicone. |

When using our tapes, the areas
to be bonded must be clean and free from grease. Do not
touch the areas to be bonded. Rub down or apply pressure
with a roller to all seams after bonding. Allow 24 hours
before use.
