Is there an article or website that explains "everything you ever wanted to know about Kite Line"?
i.e., the different types, what weight to use for size of kite, what to use for Bridle Line, etc.
I looked at the list of tech sheets and questions posted here but did not find anything that explains Kite Line for us newbies.
I'm gonna seach on google but thought someone might know where to find the info easily. _________________ We do not cease to play because we grow old,

That's why Kitesquid should post a website.
He could start with a single page, and add to it gradually, a bit here and there. He could even footnote the tomes in his huge library as references and make a bibliography. 15 minutes a day would do it.
He's just stubborn.

You guys are KILLING me here...............
It sounds like a home buisness...in just 15 minutes a day you can have a web site that will be the all knowing, all seeing tome for the kite flying masses....
Where is the Stubborn Emotocon when I need one????????
BTW I normaly use a Spectra cored Polyester line on most of my kites...
On my 8' x 12' Thomas Jefferson Edo I used 50# Polyester due to cost.
On Battle Rokkakus I use cut battle line...
On indoor kites I use 50 or 90# Spectra
There is just too much data to post here _________________ VR/

Thanks for the information and the links. I read everthing (except the technical stuff-over my head).
I also got out the books I bought and reread the sections about line.
For my Della Porta:
3' x 4' = 12 sq ft x 3 = 36
If I understand correctly, and I round this up and use 50lb line I should be OK? _________________ We do not cease to play because we grow old,

That should work. On my Della Poata I use 80 lb, and sometimes 100 lb line - because I can. _________________

I bridled my DP with 80 lb. I fly it on 80 lb too. No problems yet. I flown it up to about 18 mph.
My train of 5 mini DP's has more pull then my full size one and I fly the train on 80 lb as well. (but not as strong of wind).

Thanks
I do most of my flying on the pennisula at Longbeach, WA. The afternoon winds get pretty strong. I think I'll leave the 110lb bridle for now and try different weights for flying to see what I like best. _________________ We do not cease to play because we grow old,

Hi pawsable , I have an othor factor in the equasion when selecting the line strength . I use the heavest line the kite will support for the wind present . I do not use gloves unless its an extreemly large kite or whin I know my fingers will be subjected to burn/cut danger. 100 # or 125 # line is easier on my fingers than say 50 # stuff. I like the black line steve sells called Black Death. It has a core.
Just thought I'd pass this on.
