I own two machines A good one Bernina And a crappy one Singer . Unfortunately my wife gets the ---You guessed it the good one .
The poor sewing was all about stiching that was wandering like an S curve road . I always pointed blame on the slipery Ripstop fabric, Not my self ofcorse . When sewing long straight lines I had a heck of a time keeping my fabric going straight thru the pressure foot.
I took the feed dog out of the machine and noted that the teeth on the dog were not wery sharp but rather smooth to the touch . I took a jewlers wedge file to the teeth and gave them a tune-up. Put the dog back in and it now works the nuts. Did take notice that the dog has slots for adjustment,i'm not a machine maven but I would asume that if the machine is squeing left or right the dog con be adjusted to eliminate that problem.

GARY, how about an at-a-boy.

Just wanted to pass this on its a good feeling to learn its the sewer at fault

I started having a similar problem with my new Simplicity machine. Then I discovered that I had accidentally bumped the "Presser-foot pressure lever" to almost zero pressure. It's inside the flip-open cover where the lightbulb is housed, and I must have bumped it when oiling the machine the last time. Embarassed

The singer sewing machine that I worker on was purchased at the big K
it was around 150 bucks MOD. #5050C this machine probably has not sewn 75 yards of stiching . now that it functions as the mfg. intended it will get much more use .
PLUS no more fighting over the Bernina (hopefuly)
