Ok I keep seeing the NPW that people are making.....

Is anybody willing to do a workshop somewhere on the east coast (or close to it) I would love to learn how to make it..

Hi Dennis.
The NPW is a great kite and simple to make. It was one of the very fist kites I made.
There are many, many variations though on building one and a huge selection of options available. It's almost staggering the choice you have when building one of these kites.
The most common (that I've been able to tell) is to use a re-inforcing line in the seams and attching the bridle directly to the kite itself. Another method is to use folded ribbon at each bridle point and sew those into the seam. Then attach the bridle to those tabs.

Anyways, I agree with you. I think the NPW would make a great workshop and is an excellant candidate for Kitebuilder.com to host in a future on-line workshop.
Perhaps, if we asked nicely, Tom White and NPWBill might even be willing to present it. Oh that would be tooo coool Smile

I have recieved emails from Tom White website and Bill Painter website offering their help in any way we need. I'll also send an email to Larry Green to see if he can offer some insight. That way we'll have the knowledge of 3 of the best NPW builders on hand for questions.

If there is enough interest in this project I guess I'll offer to host it. Now I just need to line up my fabric and figure out a color scheme, size for the average kitebuilder, material need...... Shocked

I think this would be a great class. And it looks like we have the beginings of a volunteer group! Smile

The first step is to submit to me (email please) a description of the class, picture of the kite, material list, and rough outline/timeline for the whole project.

I'll see where it can fit into the year.

Thanks for the info steve... I'll get right on it to find all the details and then email you with the specs.

Also... I have recieved an email from Larry Green that he is willing to assist with Q&A requests. Larry is a very accomplished NPW builder and was the builder of the second ever NPW9b.

I would be interested but would also be interested in building a NPW9b. It is similar but supposed to make a better use of material and have more power for the same height. Just a thought. I have 2 NPW5s but no 9b yet. Looking for an excuse to build one Very Happy
