|

While Rokkaku battling the bouncing and jerking of the kite would cause the bowstring to go slack then go under tension. The tensioner would loosen thus flattening the kite and making it unstable. To solve this, I still use the tensioner but pass the line on the opposite side of locking grove. Then slide a piece of tubing, which fits snugly, over the tensioner. This axs as a lock.

Nice touch. But, a button would also work. Or, a tautline hitch. Or, double prussik the tensioning line to the spar. Just a few other approaches to the same basic question.

Not to mention Trucker's Hitch.
I'm a big fan of the Prussik-to-the-spreader technique. Works great! _________________ good heavens;

So let me get this straight (or knotted as the case may be)
you put a Prussick on each end of the spar for the bowline? Dosen't it slide? (since the prussick can't be "locked" like on a bridle?)
IOW.... (if I'm understanding you) the ends of the spars are in simple pockets with a prussick next to them next to a prussick on each side for the bridle attachments?

Yup....

It does not slide if you picked the right line to use on your spars... NOT all line is created equaly... Just test it before you put your kite in the air. If the knot slides, change line or make sure you pulled the knot tight. etc...

The spars are in simple pockets.
The bow line is attached to the spar via a Prussic knot.
The bridle lines are either attached with a Prussic knot or a Larks Head (as a Prussic Knot is just a Larks head wiht another loop in the center.)
I like this because I think that the spars should shape the sail of the kite, not the other way around. Does your skin shape your bones? _________________ VR/
