100 yard roll, starting bid is $200 and there's not a single bidder. Man, you guys are a tough crowd!
If I didn't already have over 125 yards of the stuff in my garage, I'd be bidding on that auction! |

I almost hit the 'bid' button on that one, Dennis.
.5 RSN is a bit light for my applications.
Now if that was AirX or poly.
Then again it wouldn't be $2/yd neither.

I think the very first auction had it at a $1/yd and it didn't sell then either.
Maybe if it was 3/4 oz like the rest of my cloth. It can be tricky to mix the weights in a single kite. At least for me.
Maybe if I didn't have to buy $200 worth... |

Hey Mike,
Maybe you, myself, Fool, Grant, etc. could split the roll!
Worth a look, eh?

I've got 20 yards sitting in the corner waiting for me to build a few kites with it. still a good deal for the 100 yard roll. _________________

I've got 30yds waiting to be used for something. I had planed on building a pyro but then heard about problems with tails tangling I'm sure I will eventually put it to good use |

Make your Pyro from the material you have, then get some of the soft, shiny, nylon stuff from Wally M. for the tail. I understand that it is good for that use, and the tails do not twist. Actually, if you had some parachute "silk" then you would have the ideal tail material for your Pyro.

The black delta in the photo was made by a friend of mine from the Grand Haven, Michigan area. He made the main sail from kite ripstop but the tail sections are from cheap w-mart stuff. It is hard to tell from the photo but the kite is LOOOONG ! To help you get an idea, the kite is probably flying about twenty feet in front of the building so you can compare the length of the tails to the length of the building . Also, the two dragon kites above it are, I think, both 100 footers. The delta has a central long tail and two skinnier sections off of the wing tips. It flies great. ( PS Kiteguy, can you see your original dog toy hanging under the rainbow delta ? Right above the purple bear ) |

well, String, that leaves just the two of us. I actually have some already too. It's not bad stuff. I've used it on a couple light wind kites. Maybe if it went back to $1/yd But Steve would probably lose $ on that. |

Mike,
Perhaps we should look at that...
Let's do that via PM if you are interested.
Who knows? Maybe SOMEONE could show us a thing or two about dyeing...
I'm not sure I have that much time on my hands, however.
Could be a good deal if split.

I made my Iris Edo using .5 Oz Nylon. It came out GREAT!!!!!!!
I have too many irons in the fire right now to buy any of that fabric........
But if anbody wants a workshop.....get about 10 of your friends together in your area and make it happen.... or come to SquidAcres.... I would be more than HAPPY to teach what little I know.... _________________ VR/

I'm sure most of our club "pigs aloft" would be willing to learn how to dye ripstop nylon. Right string? _________________

Lets figure out a way that it would be no cost to me (except time) to come up for a weekend and put some color on RSN.
Would you like a demo of all techniques or a particular technique.
Also Susan Lennon should be envited as she can teach the dirrect application of color to RSN. Painting a fish or something like that......
I can contact her if you want both of us instructors......
we should take this discussion off line..... please send me your phone nubmer and I'll call. but not this weekend as I am going to a kite festival out of town.... _________________ VR/
