When I got serious about building kites, I bought a one-pound spool of white V30 Dabond thread. I thought it would last forever. I just used it up! If my figures are correct, that's 12,000 yds. or 6.81 miles. If I discount the .81 for waste, that's 3 miles each for the needle thread and bobbin thread. I have sewn almost 3 miles of straight stitch seam. I've gotten a little better.

Doug,
Great job!!!!!
How many needles did you use???
How many bobbins did you wind??????
I remember the first 1 Oz cone I bought and I thought it would last a long time but when it ran out I put the empty cone with my trophies that I earned with the kites it sewed.... you should do the same!!!!!!!
GREAT FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ VR/

Wow Doug. That is a milestone. Or, the 6 miles stone anyways
I felt kinda like that after seeing the end of the thread from a 4 oz cone. I could hardly believe I sewed that much thread Then I calculated how much was used on my 'Beast Within' Rokkakku and it all made sense
I'm with Woodpekr. Just how many kites did come out of that one pound spool?

Shouldn't it be "A 3-milestone reached"
I was thinking about your achievement last night, summing up what I've used. I started with 2 spools of black and 1 spool of white V-33 - 4 ounces each. So far I've used one whole spool of black, half of the other black, and less than half of the white. So that's a total of 6-7 ounces.
You've used more than twice that... Outstanding! _________________ Spence

I think that cone of thread made about six or eight kites and some big pieces of line laundry. I don't want to think about how many bobbins I wound.

It's going to take me years to get there. I just bought myself a sewing machine so I'm at the starting point. _________________ Smarties

Hey Doug, I agree with Kitesquid. You should put that spool/cone in a trophy case.
