|
|
To recap, we had six forum members nominated for kitebuilder of the year:
Mountain Man
Progcraft
KiteSquid
Ray Bojarski
Spectre
Doug Larock
All nominees are definitely winners in my eye as they have all made major contributions to this forum over the last twelve months. All have asked questions and posted answers - the things that keep us coming back. Not to mention all the kites they have created - inspiration to us all. I want to thank all of them and would like to reward each with a $10 gift certificate, a small token of my appreciation.
But we can only award one Kitebuilder of the Year.
I tallied the votes and we have a winner! This year I am very happy to present the award to a kiter that has been a builder for a relatively short period of time, but has taken to it with passion and enthusiasm. He has spent 12 months contributing to the forum both on and off line…. His tests on spray glues took many months of preparation, experimentation and documentation. He rallied forum members to donate and construct the massive Crazy Eddy project. His Beast Within project entertained us for a year while also motivating us to discuss ways to construct a Rokkaku and applique challenging graphics.
The above examples are just a few of our winners contributions this year and in case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am pleased, excited, and happy to announce Terry Thillmann, aka Progcraft, as Kitebuilder of the Year for 2005!
Congratulations Terry, you will recieve a $50.00 gift certificate, as well as a plaque for your kite room. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to your projects in 2005. Isnt this forum great? _________________

Hello
Thank you all so very much for voting me KBOTY. It's all owed back to you. I could never have come as far as I have without this forum and all of you. You've taken me in and gone along with all (ok, most) of my ideas and provided untold support for me. Many of you send me messages off-line just to say Hi or find out what I'm working on. It's all so very nice.
Kite building for me has come to encompass all those aspects of my past hobbies that I liked, and has non of the baggage that I didn't like. It's clean, quiet and can be flown anywheres. Always draws a crowd and makes them smile. And the variety of choices is limitless and tireless. And building kites is a great release for me. I've always been into building things. Models, Radio Controlled stuff, things like that.
But the people in this hobby are what makes it really special. Kiters are a unique group of people and I'm very happy I've been able to sneak in among you.
And a big Thank You to Steve Ferrel for giving us this home and takeing us all in. But especially for going out of his way to provide things like this to all us at his own cost. Your a good man Steve. We need more like you on this planet.
Ok, so, what's next? Ummm, lets see. Tonight I'm begining another arch for Crazy Eddy. Then, a couple bols, catherines wheels, two more Rokkakus (Canadian and Alberta flags), More parachutes and a new, bigger ferry and messenger kite. A train of Delta Conynes. And somewhere in there I need to fit in a giant windsock. It's going to be a busy few months
Again, thank you all for your support and I look forward to meeting many of you at festival s in the near future
Thanks all. You've made my day, month, and year.
Cheers,
Terry.

Terry,
You were my inspiration for the Envelope decorating contest for MAKR. I just got it downloaded and will try to get it posted tonight. Hope you like it. Anyway, thanks for all your input and you don't look anything like your avatar.

Terry, congrats, you have brought all of us further in our skills, ideas, dreams and... well just the desire to have fun with kites. I have had a lot of fun reading posts from this forum and learned much from many. The trick is people have to actually participate to make the forum work and you have posted ... well ... many interesting things for us to share.
Thank you. I look foreward to another great year.
