The were in the last edition of a german kiting magazine I have at home (8m Version).
Maybe I can scan them for you. Just PM me your email. I can also help with the translation.
Here's the TOC of the magazine and a link to the publisher.

So are we talking 1 month to the day from idea inception to finished project? Impressive. I like the cross-colors and the thin black separation lines. _________________ Ben |

You know me, a week to decide on a plan, a week to decide on a colour scheme, a week to make a template and a week of cutting and sewing.
Joking aside, I really struggled with this one. Having made a Mini-Mock and a Jordan airform before - this should have been a breeze (no pun intended) but my health and other things got in the way.
First time I've built with keel & ribs as one... preferred the split method more. Top is 3 sections as is the base.
I'm very happy with the result, I hope it's as stable as they are claimed to be. _________________ When the wind sucks - you need to turn around!

Just what kind of camera are you trying to lift?
An Imax 3D Solido?

Looks great!
Hope you like it. I'm happy I could help out.
PS: I'm currently also sewing a kite from the same magazine myself (The Lycos 2.5 Competition). Burrito roll presumably this evening. I will post pictues once it's done. *tease* _________________ So long, and thanks for all the fish |

My camera must be about the size of his eye-piece
This one has been built for lighter winds and is made from only 33g material... hence a few more reinforcements - definitely not for our current gusty conditions which we have all week... typical _________________ When the wind sucks - you need to turn around!

I just did some research. A Maxi-Dopero is 6.75 sq. m , so a 5 or 8 m foil is certainly reasonable.
Somehow I thought it was ridiculously over-sized. My bad. _________________ - John Rose -

I really like the Dopero for KAP but a soft kite that is stable enough to do the job would be a lot better for transporting. I can get four 180 sg. ft. soft kites in a standard suitcase with all the lines and sand anchors. Makes it pretty convenient. _________________ Ron

Is the KAP foil significantly different from a PL pilot (apart from the obvious of more profiles) ? _________________ Kevin Sanders

It looks a little slimmer, not as tall of a rib, and it had two more cells. Other than that... _________________ Ron

It has a very different profile.
The magazine contained a very nice comparison between different profiles.
So that already yields a significantly different kite. Plus the KAP-Foil has a 3 Point bridle and the PL-Pilot only one bridle line on the keel.
Plus the KAP-Foil has cross-vents in the ribs, the trailing edge is entirely closed (not 100% sure about the pilot here).
So a lot of differences in the details.
Cheers

This afternoon I tried out the kite with the fuzzy tail I made in the week and flew my Mini-mock beside it for comparison.

Wow! Looks like smooth wind off the back of the KAP fol and turbulent off the Mock foil _________________ Kevin Sanders

Really nice comparison. What is the square footage of the mini mock? _________________ Ben |

On second look, is that a ribbon tail on the Mock and a fuzzy on the KAP foil? If so, ignore my previous observation _________________ Kevin Sanders

Ben: It's a standard Mini-mock which I believe is 20sq/ft
Kevin: Correct, fuzzy tail on the KAP-Foil and transition/ribbon tail on the Mini-Mock.
I think the straight fuzzy tail gives the impression of a more stable kite, the kite flies almost as well without it too.
Neither kite was very stable near ground level which would have made attaching a camera rig near impossible given our 60m height ceiling.
I need to spend some time in the German forums looking for tuning tips, to me the back end of the KAP-Foil looks lower than I would expect, lots of room for adjustments with 12 bridle lines though! Also all my cell ends have a 2" opening to eject bugs etc. but I think these should be closed. Might be an idea to also look back at Pilot tuning tips. _________________ When the wind sucks - you need to turn around!

Interesting how close in performance the two kites are given what I woud (wood, no WOULD) call a significant difference in profile. It looks like the KAP had a more acute flight angle. Was that the case or is it just camera angle? I too look forward to further reports.
