I am very hapy to report that forum member, Scott E. Spencer, won the MIKE Champion award with his Della Porta that was inspired by our On-Line Workshop! He had the highest overall score of 32.45
I am also happy to report that Scott had the kite with the SECOND highest overall score (31.15) as well. Guess what kite it was? His #54 Star Facet, the NEXT online Workshop!
Scott won a PAID registration to the next AKA convention in Seaside Oregon - Congratulations Scott!
Other winners include:
* Tony Rieser - 1
* Ed Shenk - 1
* Todd Little - Sodedako - 3
* Meal Balmer - 1
* South Jersey KiteFlyers - 1
* Walter Wolf - 1
* Jeff Gandee 1

Wooooooo Hoooooooo
My first MIKIE Award.
Entered last year, for the first time, but the competition was to tough.
Sorry it's not a patchwork. Just two layers and one layer cut out checkerboard style.
AND I had to convince the judges it was not a workshop kite. (points deducted for another’s design ideals)

Close but no cigar.
Once again I had to convince the judges that it was not a workshop kite.
But it was.
Well it’s a demonstration kite I use in the workshops I teach. (points added for teaching design, maybe)
I made the kite to show previous workshop participants what they could excel to after learning the regular #54 Star Facet Workshop details. The upcoming workshop will teach you most of the bells and whistles but I will not get into the nitie gritie details of doing graphics and adding wide accent strips to the edges.
At the conclusion of the online workshop I will get into the more complex details of modifications and how to overcome those complications and adding other flourishes.

Wooooooooo Hooooooooo
Again and again.
As this years “Grand Regional Champion” I am proud and honored to represent my area at the AKA's Grand National Compatition
I Just love that area of the U.S. of A.
And look forward to finally meeting some Forum members I haven’t met yet. _________________ Always pushing the edges. Just so I don't have to live on'm |
