I would like to find some narrow velcro strips. The narrowest that I've found is 3/4 inch. I've seen narrower strips used in all sorts of products, but haven't been able to find a place to purchase it.

Thanks in advance.

Marty:

Did you try your local DIY store or your local hardware store? They carry velco by the rolls and different widths (Sorry Steve).

You can always use a straight edge and utility knife and cut your own widths.

The local hardware and fabric places don't have the narrower stuff.

I wouldn't have asked if Steve had it listed in the catalog. I did a google search which uncovered several possibilities, but I thought I might get the names of places that people liked to buy this sort of stuff.

Marty,
It seems to be out there. This place has PSA Velcro down to 1/4 inch.

Marty:

Steve carries velcro. Look under notions. The narrowest he has is 5/8" wide.

It's interesting that they have the sticky backed stuff down to 1/4 inch, but the sew on stuff is 5/8 inch.

Marty:

You can always do a few stitches through the self adhesive type. I used some last year on the flap of a kite bag and it's still sticking. I never got around to sewing it.

If I need narrow Velcro, I hot cut a strip out of wider stock.

Not as pretty but it works...

I don't even bother with the Hot Knife, just a good sharp pair of scissors. After all, it's going to get sewn into place anyway, right?

Hey Dennis,

The velcro is for vent patches and to close the pocket on vents.

I guess it doesn't take much wear and tear in this application, just figured it would look cleaner with a finished edge.
