I'm lazy, and since I don't need the .5 point...
Recently I've done a backtack with a small drop of CA on the end. I then use a cordless soldering iron (less dangerous than a flame for me) to melt/burn the ends down.
I have burned a hole though the sail more times than I want to think about. Usually I put a contrasting color patch on the sail. I might put another patch on the same place on the other half of the kite. If it is in a really visible part of the sail, I might put a star shaped patch on the sail at that point. _________________ Gentle breezes...

What kind of cordless soldering iron are you using?

marty,
it sounds like you are familiar with the happy accident syndrome....
I am learning to cope and adapt as the kite requests it.....

I'm using the least expensive Wahl cordless that I could find that has rechargeable batteries. It really doesn't get hot enough to do hot cutting, but for threads, and for soldering on PC boards, it works great. _________________ Gentle breezes...
