I'm lazy, and since I don't need the .5 point...

Recently I've done a backtack with a small drop of CA on the end. I then use a cordless soldering iron (less dangerous than a flame for me) to melt/burn the ends down.

I have burned a hole though the sail more times than I want to think about. Usually I put a contrasting color patch on the sail. I might put another patch on the same place on the other half of the kite. If it is in a really visible part of the sail, I might put a star shaped patch on the sail at that point.

What kind of cordless soldering iron are you using?

Thanks

marty,
it sounds like you are familiar with the happy accident syndrome....
I am learning to cope and adapt as the kite requests it.....

I'm using the least expensive Wahl cordless that I could find that has rechargeable batteries. It really doesn't get hot enough to do hot cutting, but for threads, and for soldering on PC boards, it works great.
