Ok, Ok, Now I'm getting jealous and feeling out of the loop! Harbour Freight??!! Not fair, I've no idea what this is, but sounds good. We have Lee Valley, and Home Depot...why have I never seen a Harbour Freight? Or I guess I'm supposed to be saying Har"bor". _________________ Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. |

There must be some store like it in your fine country.
They carry mostly Chinese made tools, and some of the cutting tools are a bit soft, but they have some good deals.
I have their dial caliper, angle grinder, boat trailer, air wrenches, grinding wheels, "dremel" tool, welding tools, electrodes, etc. I've tested their torque wrenches, dial caliper and other measuring tools against high-end stuff with good results.
My brother is a CNC machinist who makes microscpes and custom rifles, and he has good results from their lathe and milling machine.
I'm assembling an aluminum and polycarbonate greenhouse this weekend that my wife bought from HF. It's very well made, and was delivered for free.

I bought one of the Harbor Freight 5 - 1 Hobby Tool Kits today. The set comes with the holder, a nice hard plastic case, a small twist of solder, an instruction manual and the bits seen below.
Looks good to me, especially for 5.29 including 6% michigan sales tax
The tips included are, from upper left, clockwise
chrome wedge
chrome large point
Chrome small point
brass chisel
brass fine point (this thing is sharp)
copper spade
hobby blade holder _________________ If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer. |

Thanks for the link, Stan. Looks a lot like the stuff our "Canadian Tire" store carries. _________________ Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. |

I have used the term so long I have to guess.
Computer Numeric control?
In the old days a magnetic tape controlled the X,Y and Z axial movement of various cutters on a milling machine and changed the tools for different steps. A form of robotics where the machinist mounts a piece of material in a tool fixture, sets the machine up and reads a novel while it creates a machined part. These days it's probably done in a more sophisticated way, but I'm into other stuff lately.

Imagin,
Check out Princess Auto, they are a bizarre mix of power tools, farm equipment, electronics surplus (home electronics), and all kinds of other good stuff.
They have a great collection of hemostats and other clamps and gadgets...
