Well, Jason Paul. I vote for using some $4 Ripstop from Steve. I have tyvek around here and have played around with it. Bought stuff from local fabric store that stretches more than the "real" thing. And my first Ripstop kite was a quad style...being flat it's so easy...and the Ripstop is beautiful to work with...very user friendly. I put a huge amount of time into a genki using softer fabric store brand. If I had it to do over again, I'd dive right in with the Ripstop.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking it might be easier to learn on the real thing, but wasn't sure.

I may just go ahead and get some seconds soon.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,
I used tape and plastic to start with. Check my photo album on this forum and my web site (links are at the bottom of this post).

Wally World has $1.00/yd Ripstop .

Reread the sewing articals , thread , tension etc .

Make a pattern , hot cut , add heavy material at stress points.

Sew a few bags and sleeves .

Reread the info , you'll get lots more out of it after trying .

Dive in , you can't drown !!

What are you planning to build? Don't rule out Tyvek as a fabric - it has it's application (just ask Ronda). Very Happy

Thank you Shpence602! Yes, Tyvek is a wonderful material to experiment with. I am planning a No-Sew Tyvek Cody with the CodyMan himself. Anyway, no matter what you make or what you make it out of, the most important thing is that you get started and learn from your experience.

Don't know that this helps but at least I got to talk about Tyvek!
