The 15th Annual Mid Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships returns to Ocean City, MD along with the Maryland International Kite Expo. Join hundreds of area kite fliers and east coast kite clubs for this extravaganza - great crowds, great kites and fun time! Friday kicks off with a school program for area middle school children. Friday night we have a welcome party sponsored by Go Fly A Kite at Shennanigan's on 4th Street. On Saturday we have the Maryland Kite Makers competition at 3rd Street, and the sport kite competition at Division Street. Join in the competition or come and fly for fun, and help us fill the sky like never before!
Join the fun..... April 23- 26 _________________ Steve Ferrel

No, but you will soon be able to download the registration info. I had copies on all the tables at Smithsonian - guess you missed them!
I'll work on getting the info uploaded as soon as I can.

I'm certain you can pull-down a PDF from the Eastern League's web-site
(easternleague@snet.net)
Or go to Rodger (skyfestivals@comcast.net) thru email directly. He's the guy who you'll pay anyway! |

Your can download the registration form (word .doc) HERE
M.I.K.E. KITEMAKERS COMPETITION
The 4th Maryland Comprehensive Kitemakers Competition will begin check-in procedures at 10:30 on Saturday at 3rd Street. We will be offering trophies this year for winners in the following categories:
Flat Kites
Bowed Kites
Delta & Derivatives
Soft & Flexible
Fighter Kites
Stunt Kites
Cellular & Dimensional
Trains & Centipedes
Arches & Ribbons
Sky Dispay (Line Art)
UFO (Open)
Individual and cooperative entries will be judged together. Along with the categories listed above there will be a trophy for the top Novice score at the competition. There is a $15 entry fee per competitor. The competition begins at 11am. The overall top scoring entry will be the Maryland Grand Champion and will receive a paid registration to the AKA National Convention again this year in Seaside, OR. The Head Judge for the competition is Steve Ferrel. Any kite that has placed previously in an AKA Nationals competition may not be entered. Kites may not be entered by proxy. The schedule is subject to change and it is the responsibility of the competitor to check in at the tent and verify the schedule. On Sunday, there will be a Judge's Showcase at 1pm. At that time, the Kitemaker Judges will have the center stage - be prepared for some award-winning kites _________________ Steve Ferrel

FYI:
This Year the M.I.K.E kitemaking volunteer staff consists of the following:
Visual Appeal & Craftsmanship Judges:
* Adrianne Balmer
* Jon Burkhardt
* Drake "drake" Smith
Flight & Structural Design Judges:
* Harold "Squid" Ames
* Cliff "CJQ" Quinn
* Pete Rondeau, AKA Grand Champion
Head Judge: Steve "stevef" Ferrel
Scorekeeper:
* Bonnie Rondeau
Registration:
* Joyce Quinn
I am still looking for three volunteers with digital cameras. I need one person to take pictures of the kites and kite builders. The other two will follow either the Craftsmanship or Design Judges and take pictures of things that the judges point out - things that make a difference in the final score. These photos will aid in future seminars about what judges look at when scoring a kite.
If interested in the above, please contact me - thanks! _________________ Steve Ferrel
