Look for FREE glass at a glass shop near you!!

They throw away a lote of glass every day.

If it is temperd glass cannot be reshaped so they toss it if it is not the right size.

ASK them!!!!!!!

I went up to one of the local construction and demolition sites here in the city. Picked up a piece of 48" x 36" x 3/8" tempered glass for $10. What a difference, up until now I have been hot cutting on a piece of Masonite.

Thanks for the tips, and hopefully this will provide yet another place to go look for good glass. Very Happy

Cheers,
Bill

Just a word of warning about tempered glass:
Protect the edges!

Tempered glass will support a surprising amount of weight. But nick an edge with something metal or stone, and the whole piece turns in to crumbs of glass.

My cutting table surrounds the glass with a 'lip' of wood.

The glass panels we use for workshops are stored on edge, on cut pieces of garden hose, separated by small pieces of cork used in the glass industry.

Enjoy, you're going to love it!
