The 16th annual Midwest Area Kitemakers Retreat will be held March 12, 13, and 14, 2004 in Oregon IL. Oregon is just south of Rockford IL, about 2 hours from Chicago.
This year our list of instructors include Kevin Shannon doing a mini-roller, Robert Brasington with his Angel Wing and a wonderful bird kite; Charlie Sotich with a min-rotor; Glenn Davison with one of his miniatures; Gary Engvall is doing a Circoflex. Others are teaching a Rogallo Corner kite; guppy windsocks; silk span tie dye for sled kites, and much much more.
MAKR is always a fabulous time, only $115 for 2 nights and 6 meals.
The registration packet will be ready in late December. Put the dates on your calendar now, save all that holiday money and plan on coming.
If you are interested, drop me an email and I'll zip a copy to you in early January.
Hope to see you there!

Just got my registration packet today I was planning on going to Fort Worden but found out that Robert Brasington would be doing a workshop on his Angel Wing at MAKR also, ( saw one at Dayton and really want to build one,) Would love to go to Fort Worden some day but MAKR saves me a day away from the family and it sounds like everyone has a great time there too . Is anyone else from the group going ? |

I am planning on going, but circumstances force me to be fluid with my plans for the next few months. Fighting the big C.
I would like to make Brassington's kite, too. _________________

Got a bit of a Christmas surprise thursday evening. Connie and I finally took time to sit down and take a breather from all the day's fun and got to talking about various things. At some point MAKR came up and to my surprise Connie says "Well, I think you ought to try to go..."
Well, OK, twist my arm a little would ya!! Looks like I'll be filling out my registration form and dropping it in the mail in the next few days. |

Just a reminder, registrations are still being taken for this year's MAKR. If you can get to Chicago airport, either one, we'll have someone pick you up and bring you out to the site. Of course, ya gotta work with us on a good schedule, before 4 pm on friday, after 8 pm on Sunday.
Don't be left out!!!

I hope you don't mind if I'm not Barbara . . .
The Rogallo Corner Kite was taught by Paul Thogerson. He and I shared a classroom. He did a great job, including a mini-seminar on the corner pockets that Frank Rogallo used.
You can contact Paul at pthogeson@aol.com
That was the addy on the Roster from the MAKR event.
I hope it works.  _________________ good heavens;
