I would say righting the kite means relaunching it when it hits the ground and is resting nose down. Some kites respond with a tug or two, or 4... Some can be gently pulled so they flop onto their face and then the next tug relaunches them. They're all a bit different, but you can relaunch many of them at 100 feet without walking, even underwater.
The little homemade hammer is for adjusting my homemade plane. It's a Japanese style wedged plane, and the jeweler's vise is handy for lots of things.

I knew that question was coming...
Assumptions: Your (diamond-shaped (not Buka)) fighter is on the ground, and it's a LONG way off.
There are 3 basic positions of a fighter on the ground:
Face up: Take a walk. If you tug/pull/pop - you'll probably just end up ripping the skin. If you don't care, then slow pulls may get it to catch on something and put it on 'edge'.
Face down: You may be able to pop the line (short quick tug) so that the fighter 'floats' up off the ground, usually spinning wildly... Then you can try to recover it in mid-air and fly off.
On edge: The bow of a fighter is flexible, and with this fact, you can use it to your advantage. You want to try to 'roll' the fighter so the nose is pointing towards the outside of the wind window, but with the nose and one of the wing tips still touching the ground. Then you'll do what I've heard of as a '2 pop' manoeuvre. These are sharp/short pops with only 6-12" of hand movement, done very quickly, with little or hardly any space inbetween. The first 'pop' compresses the LE (bow) INTO THE GROUND. The spine of the kite should now (theoretically) be parallel to the ground. The space between the '2 pops' allows the bow to uncompress, pushing the nose higher than the tail, pointing the nose "more up than down" on the ground. The 2nd 'pop' launches the kite.
YYMV: If your line stretches, you may have to move your hand more on the 1st 'pop'. And the shape/strength/length of your bow may also change the dymanics of this manoeuvre. _________________ Spence

What Spence said.
Some bukas will re-launch, but for some reason not mine.
Same goes for Bruhzilians and Koreans.
