G'day all.
Just wanted to say that I love my cording foot 
I've finally gotten used to it and learned how to get a good stitch when using it. But, after sewing 100 feet of fuzzy tail on 50 lb line, I'd better be used to it
So, I'd like to say to those who have not tried one, and to those that tried it but didn't like it, well, try it again. I found I had to go through a good 20 feet of practice before I figure out the right tension of the thread, and then another 30 feet of practice untill I started to get the right amount of tension for pulling the fabric/line out the back.
But now, It's a breeze.
I sewed the 50 feet of fuzzy tail for my full size Della Porta with 1/4" ribbon. I wasn't comfortable with the cording foot then. But, when I made the 100' feet of tails for the mini train I used 50 lb line and the cording foot. Huge saver that thing is!!!
And now a question. The foot I have works great for 50 and 80 lb line. It cost me about 5 bucks. However, she didn't have a bigger one. Do they make cording foots which can accomadate 200 - 500 lb line?

I find I dont need them.. as long as the grove in the bottom of the foot will guide the line...
Test some bigger line on the foot you have...
If it does not work either get a foot with a wider/deeper grove or widen the one you have, but keep the grove straight in refrence to the fabric movemnet path.....
for a good resource get the catalog from Clotilde and Nancy's Notions.
Most sewing stores use Brewer, but Brewer does not sell to people who do not have a tax number, but most sewing stores will let you thumb thru the catalog to find what you want. if they wont, go find another store.....

I use a home made cording foot. I used a jeweler's file and some crocus cloth to cut a groove into a straight stitch foot. Cost me $3 and a half hour.
The groove flares slightly at the front of the foot and works surprisingly well. For even larger line, the foot could be built up with some metal that could accomodate a deeper groove.

I have a bushing from a #830 motorcycle chain increasing foot spring pressure and have polished the bobbin case to reduce snags.

Hummmm, I wonder if it could be built up with J-B Weld....... 
I have a foot for my machine which is has about 6 narrow slots in it. That is what the sewing machine place shows me when I ask for a cording foot. I get a blank stare when I ask for something with a much larger slot.
I can't widen the slot in that foot as the slots are quite close together. Maybe if I filled the two adjoing slots with J-B Weld, and got busy with the Dremel tool.....

I rummaged through the "feet" that came with my machine (Pfaff 1222E) when it came time for a cording foot.
I found a clear plastic foot with a single groove which was pretty substantial in width. I used 80# test dacron line for the tail and it looks like the groove could accommodate 150# test line. Since it's a plastic foot it would be easy to modify for even heavier line.
Maybe a Pfaff dealer could help you out . . .

That foot sounds like the choice I sidestepped. You'd have to rough up the shiny surface to get JW weld to adhere, but if you don't use the foot anyway, why not?
I got the foot I grooved from Joann Frabric for my White, and I believe it matches Brother and Kenmore snap-on feet. They also have a Teflon foot that could be tweaked.

Most feet I have modified were brass that had been chromed....
A little sand paper to break thru the chrome and epoxy bonds just great!!!!
