the humble newbie once again has another question for all....
What kind of paint should I use if I wish to paint tyvec?

you can even use an ink-jet printer with tyvek!
Design Master paints (available from Kitebuilder.com) can lay down tonal values like an airbrush. It's nasty stuff though, use protection on your hands, lungs, eyes etc.
you can draw on tyvek with "Sharpie pens" too, think the works of MC Escher. I've seen this type of illustration done for the Smithsonian on tyvek sled kites!
Screen printing inks will hold up well, but they're very opaque and are laid down super thick compared to other decorating application coating methods |

Since Tyvek resists absorption, acrylic paint can be applied and rubbed away with a wad if tissue to create graduated tones to mimic airbrush, or for $10, Harbor freight has a nice airbrush for this sort of work.
