|
|
The New York Kite Enthusiasts (NYKE) kite club is proud to announce it's first ever Kite Builders Challenge. What is that? NYKE is offering an open challenge to kite builders everywhere, to build the best kite you can build and bring it to the Sullivan County Kite Festival, in Loch Sheldrake, NY, on May 1st, 2004 where it will be judged by a panel of top kite builders. The catch is that the kite must be built from a kit obtained from Kite Studio. The contents of the kit will not be reveled to contestant until they receive it in the mail. Be assured that there is ample supplies to build many designs. The winner of the challenge will receive a $100 gift certificate to Kite Studio, second place a $50 gift certificate and third $25.
In order to participate, visit the Kite Studio Website and order your NYKE Kite Builders Challenge Kit, (the sooner you order the more time you have to build) the cost of the kite is $35, plus shipping & handling (s&h determined by your location) the cost of the kit serves as your registration fee. To complete your registration in the contest, complete the form here
Some details on rules:
* Completed kites will be judged as per A.K.A kite building contest rules.
* All kites MUST fly to be considered for entry.
* Only kites built from the parts kit obtained from Kite Studio will be considered for entry.
* Parts from the kit MAY be omitted from the final kite.
* The only items that may be added to the kit are:
- Additional fabric for applique of designs
- Thread
- Bridle, tensioning and flying lines.
* Kites will only be judged on May 1st at the Sullivan County Kite Festival, in Loch Sheldrake, NY
* Kites may be entered via proxy.
* Novice / Experienced builder designations are only for the purpose of special awards.

yep.... every kit will have the same supplies. This project is really Jeremy Johannesen's idea.... I'm just providing the source of materials.
Jeremy came up with a great idea here... one that I think could be very successful for other kite clubs as well... not to mention, a fun project that tests your creativity.
A portion of every kit sold will go to NYKE.
If your club is interested doing something similar, please contact me and we will review the details.

Just a reminder... To participate in this contest, you MUST complete the registaration form on the NYKE website
here
I seem to be getting a lot more kit purchases than the number of registrants. If you purchased a kit, please register!
Thanks.

Question -
How would a California kite get entered by proxy?
I don't know anyone who's going to the Sullivan County Kite Festival, in Loch Sheldrake, NY, on May 1st, 2004. _________________ "The wind is the perfect reminder of God.
