You guys sure have the subject covered. Before I started buying machined endcaps, I always made my own from aluminum spacers from electronics suppliers. A short spar section or alloy tube would be bonded into the end to stop the spar, and one side drilled so the knot could live inside the tip.
Steve's endcaps save a lot of work.

Steve,
I envision a steped hole where the spar goes. a deep small one for the knot and a larger one stepped out to accecpt the spar and to make sure that the spar does not contact the knot. so the spar cannot cut the knot after repeated assemblies of the kite... |
Way ahead of you Squid! Already thought of that and the old man already cranked one out:
I have to buy a new camera.. resolution is terrible.. On the fitting above, the bungi knot is hidden in a "channel" above the spar. The cross hole is smaller than the channel, preventing the knot from pulling out. The overall length is 1.375" and the diameter is .50". The spar goes in about .75". I think I'll call it the pekr fitting.... _________________ Go Build a Kite!

Wow that's very cool...
Put a plan in motion! How is that for time from design to production...
Sweet!
