Came across this. He talk specifically about Rev kites, but the idea can be applied any where. It's a neat idea. Would be good to use on trick kite wing tips too.

Shucks, thanks guys.

I've been thinking of changing it to make it a bit simpler. As you can see I drill a single hole in the cap where the end of the spar sits. I then pull the bungee through that hole.

I've been toying with the idea of drilling two holes, the second hole at the top of the triangular aperture at the top of the end cap.
Then, without making a loop, simply tie a knot in the bungee and thread it through the spar chamber as before.
Now you have the end cap with a single length of bungee coming out of the triangular aperture.
Then thread the bungee through what ever holes there are in the sail, thread it through the (new, second) hole in the top of the aperture (from the top), tie a knot, and trim it close. The knot will be visible, but it shouldn't be snagging your lines since it's tucked into the aperture.
This would make it easier to tighten a bungee if it stretches out, and for the weight conscious, uses half the bungee cord. My concern is that the second hole will weaken the cap.
So, when I get the time, I'll try this out and update my no knots page. If any of you try this let us know how it works out.

It sounds like a good solution as long as you keep the holes centerd and as small as possiable.

Doesn't ed shenk use heat to smooth the dacron sheath and adhesive to seal the two elastic ends together thereby making it truly "no knot" on his kites?
