buy the way before I got the ebay ones I priced one of these

http://www.jesseheap.com/Pictures/attachments/folder-765.htm

It costs $125.00 but you have to send some of the fabric that you intend to use so they can make sure that it will work for your application.

oh well

I tried emailing those folks last week, and still haven't received any reply. I wonder if they're still in business - although the email didn't bounce. Strange way to run a business though.

before you spend big bucks shop around

Try Cut Sew service for a universal fit one (they also sell some that fit only one industruial machine) that you can bend a little to suit our thin fabrics....

IIRC it may have taken as much as two weeks for them to email me back. I wouldn't give up on them for a while

Hemming feet are great. Done miles of hemming on them. YES it takes a mechanical feel to make them work to your advantage. And a special knack to start well and correct problems.
So make a lot of tails and learn.
One trick I taught myself is for a double folded narrow hem. Since the rip-stop is stiff I have it fold it over once before going into the hemming foot. The foot will fold it over one more time. Yes your using your hand as a single fold hemming foot then the foot does the second fold.
Once you master this, go back and do some single fold hems with a regular foot while using your hand as the hemming foot.
With all these concepts it takes constant adjustment of your finger curvature, position left and right and up and down of your hand. Then there is the problem of different color fabrics reacting differently. Different angles of bias react differently. Running a seam through the foot is a nightmare.
Keeping your hand farther away from the foot may help. Any motion that is farther away is less influential then if your hand is up real close.
It just takes time and lots of patients. A glass of wine helps to relax.
When my obsessive-compulsive nature sees something wrong I just squint. My quality of work increases ten fold
