Tough luck on missing the Circoflex, but you can check in as an observer. I am also taking the Bag It session.
BTW. Have you resolved the e-mail problem? (Hate to hi-jack this thread, but it's the only way). Sent you two messages by different e-mail clients. They were simply to confirm that details as discussed were a GO.

According to the local news Highway 101 was closed at milepost 47, north of Tillamook, due to a rockslide.
The Friends Camp is at milepost 52. Milepost 43 is north of milepost 52.
I have no idea how big this slide is and it will more than likely be gone by next week if not today or tomorrow. Just wanted to give anyone driving down from the north a heads up.
We've had quite a winter storm for this area the past two days, but it looks like things will be warming up. That will probably mean some flooding in low lying coastal areas. _________________ Rich Durant

Yeah, thanks for letting us know Rich. I would hope that the slide will be cleared away by next Thursday. If you hear anything at all, let us in on it. Counting the days to OKR now, and hoping we don't get freaky weather conditions in the coastal range next week.
It has been indeed some crazy weather for the Pacific Northwest. First the cold spell, then the rain, and the snow, although officially our snowfall in Vancouver was a mere 9cm, a miniscule amount compared to Vancouver Island, and further in up the Fraser Valley. Today it's raining and the temps. are moving up to more seasonal levels, day time high of 4 to 7 degrees(39 to 44), expected for the next seven days (with occasional rain of course; or else it wouldn't be Vancouver in winter).

I'll second Bill's sentiments . . .
It was a great time and it's always fun to put faces to the folks you meet on-line. _________________ Rich Durant

My feelings exactly-many thanks go to you Rich for all your help, and to Bill for sharing the journey, and all the gang for the camaraderie. It has indeed been a memorable weekend, my second OKR for me, and it was even better second time around.
Now thinking ahead to Fort Worden, and doing it all over again in a couple of months. In the meantime there's these forums.
Till Fort Worden then... and many more kite projects.

Hey Guys,
Glad you all had a great time at Oregon Kitemakers Retreat. It was fun tying you all up in knots!! See you at Ft Worden. I'm teaching two sessions of the No-Sew Tyvek Fluted Sled. I am a glutten for punishment.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the Della Porta workshop. My green grasshopper ELNA sewing machine just barely got warmed up at OKR.
Talk to you all soon,
Ronda |
