What do you use for carrying lines and notions to the field? Right now mine are in a sports bag. It's frustrating. I'm a very visual person, and if I can't see something at a glance, it's a pain to find. For my kites I use a Prism roll up bag (burrito style), unfolds beautifully so I can find all of my things.

I sketched out something that would work in a similar way, with changes of course to suit the size of reels and things.

Would love to see pics of anything you use or would suggest.

sport kites are in my Prism roll up bag

SLK's are in a MLD bag

SLK reeles are in a home made bag.

Just a tube of Banner cloth just bigger than my gator spools with mesh sewn on to make the bottom, so all sand will fall out as I do fly at beaches from time to time, and the other end is pulled shut with a draw string.

All of my stuff is in homemade bags.

I started putting the line for the Big Kites in bags after a $100 reel of line walked off at a kite festival. I'll get pics up soon.

I threw together something I call my Flight Bag. It is just a Tote Bag the zippers closed, but inside along one side there are sleeves for pens, and sharpies. On the other side is a pocket for cards. In it goes everything I might need on the field: Straps and carabiners for anchors, climbing pulleys for take-downs, gloves, line sets, a halo of 150 pound and 250 pound, a couple of line-marker-anchor-banners, my shin holster with two golf ball stakes.

Btw - slightly off-topic, but when I fly at the beach, on sand, I refuse to use dead-men or stakes. I make 3x3 or 4x4 'tarps' with straps and take along a shovel to throw sand on them.

They work GREAT

Get a plastic shovel or grain scoop to digh your hole and to fill the tarp like thing with the sand..

Okay, the original post said 'line bags'. Of course, I thought that meant bags for line . . .

Here is my Flight Bag which is my first thing taken to the field. It has all the essentials that I don't want cluttering up my kite and banner bags. You can just see the sleeves for pens and sharpies (markers) inside.

But, since line bags were mentioned, these are the bags for the side lines for the Manta Ray. They are simple drawstring bags. Essentially, each panel is a square, plus a triangle that is just the ends brought in at 45 degree angles.

Here is a look at the bottom of one.

This bag has 300 feet of 2200 pound line that is the flying line for any of the Peter Lynn big kites.

These are some of the other bags I've made. The longest yellow & red one is about 7 feet long. I wanted one I could get any one of my single line kites in to, including the 14 foot wingspan Cody.

I would have shown the pics of the Anchor bag, but I seem to have run out of personal album space. Embarassed

Not really a line bag, but a reel bag (pun intended) but here is the bag I use to carry a stack of about eight, 9” gator spools with line on em. They stack up inside... I should add a shoulder strap tho......

And here is the bottom of it

I prefer Gator spools to any other thing out there becaue of hte speed at which I can put line out or take it in....

VERY important in Rokkaku battles.

well Imagin will have to design one ! I will get a drawing done to take in the reels that we have been buying ! got to think ahead so will make it big enought for a few *grin* more reels ! Wink
