When i made my first few kites i was using crappy fabric from the fabric store. Then someone turned me on to Steve and things got a whole lot easier and my kites a whole lot better. Recently i have been sort of obsessed with inflatable line art, bols, parachutes etc. So i have a renewed interest in softer (read no memory no wrinkles) slightly stretchier material.

Any ideas what type of fabric i should be looking for?

Steve, do you carry anything like this?

Does anyone sell Carrington? - this stuff is soooo nice, but probably prohibitively expensive for big line laundry

The fabric store stuff is ok (for parachutes etc.) but sporadically available and in very few colors. I have found some fairly heavy urethane coated Ripstop that works well for Bols, but it weighs a fair amount and i wouldn't want to make an inflatable kite out of it.

be happy

A

I too would like some info on softer material. I want to make a couple big deltas, etc. What is the material used in say a Pyro or the White Bird dragons? The soft material just flows on these kites.

Would an uncoated Ripstop give that light flowing look? Possibly a Ripstop on the main sail & something softer on tails?
