sort of related...
Does anyone else have a log or chart of their local flight spots and what winds are best for that location?

I just created one tonight as I live in the middle of suburbia and the open area's are somewhat few and far between.

My best spot is out at Metro Beach Metro Park about 10 miles away. Not too conveinient for a quickie test. Some of the areas near me that are big enough to fly in are usually oriented in a specific direction to fit the area. There are fields that work great with east or west wind, but aren't that great for north to south...

I need to create a chart like that for my new home location. Where I used to live was 30 minutes north of my new apt. And there was a large flying feild 3 minutes away. Now I'm in the thick of the miami valley near moraine where a glacier stopped and left hills everywhere. Crap for a steady breeze. I gotta find a close area to fly at that doesn't have baseball players on it all summer. I needed a flying fix last night but with driving a half hour to the best ones I know of I would have only had a half an hour to fly before the light disappeared. In a few months there won't be anything to worry about since I'll have nearly 5 hours of sunlight after I get off work. But usually in the summer the winds are calm if there's any at all.

Hey all, New here and thought I would say hello to everyone. I just built my first Kite, a 8' Rokkaku. I'm into KAP and purchased the materials to build the kite from here. I fly my rig in my backyard mostly because there's plenty of wide open space. All farmland. Smile
