( Dancing I found the kite! It is on the National Kite Month web page but their link is wrong. I had to Google it to find the right link Confused HERE is the good link. Can't get much simpler than this and they don't fly too bad either Very Happy )

The link on the plans section of theNational Kite Month site resource page is correct. It is the link on the resource page itself that is bad.

That's the one! Thanks Dazz. Sorry I couldn't get you the info MM but it's hanging from the library ceiling Embarassed Very Happy When I take them down, I'll measure it for you. I got it on E-bay. I was a bit sceptical but didn't pay much for it. It needs a steady wind but looks cool, ( especially with the little legs running like crazy )
From memory: it is a Ripstop type material. It is a little rough feeling, compared to the slipperyness of Ripstop. This may be caused by the design silk-screend onto the sail. The horizontal spars are pemanently attached but the vertical spars are removed for storage, ( several different sizes depending on which piece they go in.) There are real slick fittings at the edges of the horizontal spars that latch onto the little spars with the tassles, ( that extend out to the sides, beyond the edge of the sail,) I can't remember quite how they work, but you can slide the tassle spars in and click them in their closed position for storage. All of the disc-sails are connected with line at the sides and top. I'll post photos when I take it down. Look and you might find one cheap on E-bay Very Happy

The Tiger is a centipede kite with feet added to two disks

The high end of centipede kites are the ones with a dragon's head at the bottom end and huundres of disks.

Just make sure you put the cross spar in the bottom half of the disks.... I'll have to look at a book later to see how low it should be...

I think the Tiger kite in question is an X-Kite-- they are from LA area I believe-- the front panel is the face -- the legs are actuallly stacked kites behind the "face" ?Walmart had carried the kite around here last spring-- but they did Spectre Kites as well?!?!?!? until the demise of Spectre???--
Good luck-- I would like to make the tiger in nylon as well-- I think it was in plastic when I saw it--

They are manufactured by X-Kites.

HERE are their Sky Innovations: WindWalkerTM . They make a Tiger and a Cow...

I like the cow

If you look they are Centapeed kites with legs added to two of the disks.

On page 160 of the Penguen Book of Kites, David Pelam says " The Centipee kite is more speddtacular than efficient." and I tend to agree..

His plan does not talk about how low to put the cross spars but hey should be in the bottom half of the kite to lower the CG of the disks and to make the train lines more of a triangle arangement.
