I have had this image in my files for about 2 years. I have always wanted to use it on a edo or similar kite. I know I will no longer be using this as I am mainly working with soft kites right now.

Guess I'll have to fess up. The BEST ever patterns for what you are trying to do are in a book called Sea Faeries by Jillian Sawyer. (I just got my copy a couple of weeks ago and paid more than the current auction price.)

Jilliam Sawyer is from Australia, and I've noted that some of her designs have shown up on kites from there. This is a secret that really is too good to keep and she has SEVERAL books in print (I have most of them!)
