G'day.
Any airbrushers out there?
I've recently made attempts to try airbrushing again. I pulled out my old Paasch VL the other day and got some Createx airbrush fabric paint but I soon realized that my airbrush is haveing problems beyond my ability to fix. I'm pretty sure I put it away the last time (about 2 years ago) without a proper cleaning. It just does not spray well anymore.
So, I'm going to get a new one. I'm looking at getting the Badger 360 Universal. I figure why not. I just bought myself a new 2 gallon, 1.5 HP, oil-less compressor yesterday, so I may as well have a good brush to go with it. And if I can get to be a decent painter, then I can do lot's of neat things to kites.

Has anyone used the Badger 360 Universal airbrush? Do you have anything to say about it?
What airbrush do you use? And which fabric paints do you like to use with it?

Mine has always worked well, especially after I fixed a separate pressure regulator inline for it, to keep the airbrush line around 25 max, IIRC.

Squid colors may be the answer. The whole "steam to set" thing is slowing me down though.

Trying to find something to load an airbrush with was what started the whole blo-pen thing. I keep wondering about some kind of ink, with an alchohol to carry it past the coatings and into the fibers.

I have limited experience with using an airbrush. Did some motorcycle paint jobs years ago.

My shower test of the Createx paint had good results.
The un-set part cracked a lot when I balled up the fabric and wrinkled and rubbed it. It also faded somewhat.
The part that was heat-set held up very well to the water, heat, wrinkeling, scrubbing, and rubbing (and zest soap). I gave the paint and fabric a pretty good work out. There was a very slight bit of cracking though so I'm going to use a hotter iron for the next test. I only got the fabric up to 270 degrees F when I heat set this first panel.

Also, I've found out that Parma's liquid FasMask works quite well on Ripstop nylon Smile

I'm happy about that. Next is try some frisket flim though I think that will work just fine.
I also bought some retarder for the Createx paint in hopes that my airbrush can do a better job with this paint.

Don Mock was using indelible marker ink, bought by the pint. The company packaging though went out of business and he had to stop.
