Actually, a picture of a mermaid. As a model for a kite.

I've been searching for a mermaid pic that I can create into a SLK for a friend of mine.

She has a Peter B. appliqued kite with a mermaid on it that she can't fly when there's kids around Embarassed

I've toyed with the idea of an Edo/DellaPorta/square/Rok shape, but I think I want to make her something that looks like a mermaid (in the fashion of a Sky Dude/Angel).

I really like this sytle of mermaid - personalized and not a line drawing.

And/or with outstretched arms

(but with no private parts showing!) Shocked

I've tried cutting her up and pasting the pieces back together to make her stand up straight, but I end up missing parts and it doesn't blend back together very well.

My daughter has a mermaid Barbie that I may have to use to get the basic figure defined... But I wanted a work of art to start with rather than a Barbie...

If anyone comes across a picture that they think I'd be interested in, please send it my way.

Thanks

I've just remembered a mermaid kite seen at a few festivals over here in the UK. I'm afraid I can't remember the designer but here's a couple of piccies from the Bristol 2002 Festival. There may be some more on my site but I can't put my finger (or mouse) on them at the moment. Hope this helps the inspiration process.

I usualy start in Microsoft's Word.

Clik on insert

Click Picture in the pull down.

Click on clipart.

Type Mermaid in the search and you will get some...

There are two I like...

If you dont have MS Word on your machine, let me know and I will post two or so...

OR try Clipart.com but you have to pay for them...

There are other free clipart sources on line.

Also try the library for books on Mermaids.

I ALWAYS look at the greeting cards for art ideas

Look in the galery at Mermaid.net

Ant the is LOTS of images at allwall.com

Steve, I am going to use that one for a window cover in my basement bathroom! After a few ferrel enhancements! ehem.

Back in the days in shipbuilding, what was the name of the wood carving on the front of the boat? You might want to search on that...

Not what your looking for but i thought this was kinda cool:

Mermaids are okay I guess - it's just that the wrong half is fish!
