I have a pfaff 1471 that I need a new bulb for. The owners manual does not list a part number. I have searched high and low on the internet and cant find a bulb that positively says it will work in a 1471. Lots of universal type bulbs, but there are so many of those that I dunno.

So if you have a 1471, and have changed the bulb, what bulb number did you use?

I've got a 1475 that just had a burnt bulb. I just pulled the bulb and took it to a local fabric store to replace. They had quite a few different ones and I found one that was an exact replacement. Bought 3 for the future. Very Happy

Although I've been contemplating getting led bulb replacements to try and get a brighter/whiter light. It looks really similar to an automotive 1157 without the roundness of a standard light bulb. Anyone ever change their bulb out for something else?

I've heard of going to NAPA for a bulb before , you might try that !

Be carefull at the auto parts store as most of the bulbs they carry are 12 V and I dont know the voltage of the sewing machine bulb.

It could be 115V or it could run off the output of the power supply, and that could be anyting...

Is there a Pfaff dealer near you?????

Any sewing machine mechanic should have the bulb on the shelf. Take it to any sewing center and have them install it for you.

I have a 1475 at home and could pull the bulb out to see if there are any markings on it, but it is at home.....

no more than 15 watt bulbs. Not sure of voltage. but I could probably find it with my multimeter. As for the led's they can be made into whatever you want them to be for voltage since they use less than the average bulb and us resistors to work properly.
Check www.superbrightleds.com for led replacements. I'd be willing to bet they'd work with you if you sent them a standard bulb.

Found the exact bulbs I just replaced with. Also did some digging on the net. 120v

I am going to order a couple and try them. For everyone asking about voltage, the old bulb is a pfaff original. It is 120 volts and 15 watts. However the part number on the bulb base is 4620 and nobody I asked at any sewing store or bulb store could cross it to anything they had.

I will order the one that chris found.

I found lots of 120 volt bayonet type bulbs that were 15 watts, but was unsure if the base would fit the pfaff socket. They were almost all intended for Singer, Bernina, Elna or other machines. They might have fit but who knows.

Kitesquid, you asked about a pfaff dealer. Unfortunately the closest to me is 250 miles away.

Thanks for all the help and ideas on using the led headlamps for extra light.

You guys are great.
