If you haven't seen these things, they're basically little airbrushes.
They're a tube with a small venturi at the end. You blow through them, past the felt tip marker, and it creates a fine mist spray similar to an airbrush.
I bought them to see if I could use them to do airbrush style shading on Ripstop. Unfortunately, the markers are water soluble, but fortunately, they'll hold a Sharpie just fine.
I don't know how long Sharpie will last on Ripstop in the sun, but so far, they're a lot of fun to play with. _________________ Take care,

I haven't had the nerve to actually use it on anything important yet.
I'm a bit concerned that the pigments in the Sharpie won't last.
I have a project I'd like to use it for, but so far all I've done is some testing. There's a piece in a South window right now for fade testing.
Here's a quick and dirty sample of what it looks like
That was red Sharpie, sprayed on the back of the white before back cutting.
Need to work on my technique a bit. Never tried holding an airbrush in my mouth before. _________________ Take care,

Don - Black Sharpie pens are what the "big name" kite designers use in the lighter colored panels when they sign their kites. They use the silver or gold Sharpies for the darker panels. Their signatures seem to last at least 10 years, so your designs should be fairly stable.
BTW, that airbrush effect looks pretty sharp! Very nice! _________________ "The wind is the perfect reminder of God.

Wow... I never thought you could do that with a sharpie... Just another great thing about this forum.
I really like that design Don. Ofcourse a design on a 8' rokkaku, That could make for alot of blowing. _________________ Kevin K

I wonder what the difference is in the "Fabric" blow pens is?
What are the odds that it'll stick to Ripstop?
If you're going to "blo" something the size of an 8' rok, you might want to pad the floor first.
I got a little silly after doing the sample above.
The applique is for a sport kite.
I still don't know if I have the nerve to start spraying after all that sewing and cutting. _________________ Take care,
