I'll start off this thread....
Great weekend at Fort Worden, even though I got sick and had to leave early. This was my first trip up to the Fort and let's just say I was truly impressed by the conference. MANY classes offerred the whole weekend by some of the top kite builders around. Awesome kite raffles after each meal on Friday and Saturday. Great weather the whole weekend. Great to hang out with fellow kiters and especially fellow forum members knotty ronda and woodpeckr.
I personally attended the workshops conducted by Mike Mosman and Paul & Helene Morgan. Both kites were fairly easy to build, after you learned a couple of necessary tricks to get the assembly done. Both classes provided the necessary parts and materials, and great sets of build instructions.
Many thanks to all the instructors and all who worked so hard to put this event on every year. It is quite an amazing gathering of the kite making clans!
The raffles offerred everything from the smallest kite related trinket, thru donations from Premier Kites, and up to some great hand-made kite, especially the Fort Worden logo kite from Phil Scharf of England. And all could be had for only 25 cents a ticket. Many thanks to Marla and company for their tireless efforts in producing the raffles.
Too many other folks to mention and thank. My apologies to all that I may have missed. Can't wait for next year!

Well it was a great time by my standards, good friends, lots of kite to learn about. I took Dan Kurahashi's class on edo style kites. other than that I poked my head in to lots of other classes and took pictures. Well there was another thing if you stuck around until the annual meeting, you would have seen our six year President Steve Milspaugh step down. And they elected me President. I never heard the train coming but I think I was railroaded because there wasn't anyone else on the ballot. However I am looking forward to this as Ft Worden planning committee is a great group to work with. _________________ Robkite

Rob:
Best of luck in your new position!
I know what it feels like to be railroaded in to taking an office. It happened to me several years ago. The experience I gained was well worth it.
Good winds..Charlie |

I suspect you'll be very good at the job!

OH, sorry my warning didn't get to you before you walked into the meeting. Steve Milspaugh did a great job as the chief announcer and prez. You have a great team in place and we will be looking forward to next year's conference. Thanks in advance. Sorry my warning didn't get to you sooner.

Rich also plays well with others. I really like the new 'kite anchor' that he shared with me at the Fort. I went out and got more! Thanks Rich!
