G'day.
Bubble posted this picture of him flying his new PL Pilot kite.
Ok, try to avert your eyes from the kite, and take a look in the backgroud. I do beleive that is Table Mountain in South Africa.
That is a great picture, and it must be a wonderfull place to fly a kite.
Do you have any pictures of extraordinary flying locations?
Thanks for shareing.

Twin Rocks, Oregon is where I do most of my flying. I'm very lucky.
Click the images for a closer look

This is Sylvan Rodrigues Park on the South side of Houston.
The light green outlines the open fields that we fly in. We sometimes play with the Revs in the (blue outlined) reflection pool.
The area in the 'other' corner is a pavillion, restrooms, and a playground.
The top left corner of the photo is Ellington Air Force Base, so we have deafening 'fly overs' quite often.
This is MY extrodinary flying location. _________________ Spence

Here is one of my favourite spots to fly SLKs...
It's a cliff between two beaches (Lawrencetown and Stoney) on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia.
The building in the photo is the MacDonald house Tea Room. More importantly there is a kite shop in the bottom of the building. (just kids kites, but it all helps move the hobby forward)

Spence...
Isn't that just a teeny tiny bit close to the airport?
Technically isn't it illegal to fly a kite within 3 miles of ANY airport?

Another interesting place we fly is the Halifax Citadel. The Halifax Citadel is a British fort built in the 18th Century (1759 rings a bell). The Fort is now a national park and since it's one of the highest points in the city it's a favourite among kite fliers. This is also the spot we hold our annual fun fly in May.
here is a photo of it taken by the Dalhousie University students from their KAP rig.
Click for the full size picture (it's pretty big)
Cheers,

What a great photo... Do you know who took it? was it you?
Have you ever had a problem with the authorities for flying that close to the base?

I took it on 12/24/04 after we took off from Hobby Airport.
We've never had a problem. But I think there's coming a time when we will - the R/C airplace guys are starting to use the fields. _________________ Spence

Your kidding!! There's an airport right there!
We have a nice park here in Calgary that is situated like yours. Upon entering the park there is a big sign that you just can't miss. Part of says 'No kites', and 'No R/C aircraft' I guess the planes passeing directly overhead wasn't a big enough clue. _________________ There is no box.
