If you look at my Webshots album you can see some examples of my hand dyed fabrics, and the kites I made from them..
Positive and negative feedback is requested.
BTW these are coated fabrics and I did NOT remove the coatings...... I pushed the dyes thru them..... _________________ VR/

You've been busy!
Very nice tie-dye. Takes me back to the good old days.
Would look good among black panels in a stunt kite.
That Edo is beautiful! |

Thanks, I have been busy..
I made a kite using the Unknown Nylon 001 panel at the MKS workshop this past weekend but I dont have any photos of the finished kite, yet.
The Edo was done using vat dying for the purple pannels and the rest was using silk painting techniques. It is made from 0.4 Oz nylon that Steve special ordered for me. That fabric is only avaiable in white..... or so I am told.

i love this stuff!!!!!!!!!!
When you are ready for orders, I hope to get on the list.
I don't care if it is poly or nylon
Are you mixing colors yet?
Or do you order from a list? _________________ Randy

Well I did do the Iris Edo with it.......
I will share my secrets as soon as I have all the bugs worked out... Still a problem with the polyester. and I have an issue with the Nylon that is driving me crazy trying to nail down.
I want the process I share to be spot on for my kite builidng friends
I saw one of his tie dye balloon in ABQ at Christmas time. The pilot brought it to the balloon glow!!!!!! BTW balloon fabric is EASYER to work with than Kite fabrics... They have a softer hand and therefore fold easyer and stay were you put them while kite fabric wants to jump up and go flat!!!! AARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH but I am working on it.
Somewhere I have a photo or two I took... I'll post here as soon as I find it. _________________ VR/

Interesting.
I found it to be the opposite. I hate trying to hem balloon fabric cause it won't hold a crease like .75oz does. And trying to get a nice fold along the bias of balloon fabric is darn near impossible for me. _________________ There is no box.
