When you enlage kites that have 3 dementional form like an inflatable, you may not be able to do a direct enlargement of pannels. I ran into that with a foil I was trying to enlarge....
I am not so concerned with making a DIRECT scale of a kite, but someting that fits close..... as in I will fit to parts no neccsaraly a ____% enlargement. _________________ VR/

One can always build a prototype out of tape and garbage bags and make the adjustments before buiding the real thing in a more expensive material. _________________ Smarties

Transparancy is good, or you can print on an E size printer (44"x34"), or even a large plotter. All these printers are possible with some photoshop type application, though you will likely have to go to a printing service. Or you can tile the kite plans together by printing a bunch of 8.5"x11" of the plan, where each page is a different part of the plan (again with a Photoshop type application). Tape them together and you have an enlarged plan. Put the taped together plan on a light table (or glass sliding door) and trace onto a solid piece of paper.

Mostly, I've used Corel Draw to trace a scanned drawing, and made a vector drawing out of it. Once it's vector, you can scale it to any size without distortion. It will also print on multiple tiles sheets, so you can use the tape together and trace method.
A while back, I picked up an old LCD projector panel (cheap). They hook up to a computer as if they were a monitor, and replace the transparencies you would normally use on an overhead projector. Anything you can show on your monitor can be projected.
I tried it breifly hanging from the ceiling hanging over my cutting table, with the projector pointing down. Worked great on a couple of projects, then the bulb in the projector burned out. A replacement bulb cost more than I paid for the projector, so now I'm in the market for a new projector.
If I had the money, I'd be looking at one of the newer all-in-one LCD projectors. They're $$$ though. _________________ Take care,

Oh, I picked up an overhead projector for $15 at a county surplus sale.
They were throwing away some transparancy film at work as they use computer projectors now......
