Very nice drawing indeed. Noticed that you had a bit of spare sky so I filled it up with my new line art.
This has promted me to think of an idea.
How about starting a thread where each person adds a little bit to a drawing? Then at the end it could be printed as postcards or a new kiteforum calendar and sold for the benifit of some charity. On the back we could have the credits listed. You know all the names of the artists.
What do ya think?

Brilliant idea! Why don't you start with what you just did and tell us how you did it? This should be interesting.

I love this place. Steve had no idea what he was creating when he decided 'hey, let's try this forum thing' But then, the greats never do, when they do it.
Mr. Boxkites. That is a most wonderfull idea. For people like me (the drawing-challenged), I think we'd love to see what ya'll can accomplish. Perhaps something that can be silkscreened onto banners, or Roks, or ....
I wonder if a 'structured' approach may help. ie: setup a kite shape then begin with userA. When userA complets thier addition, the art goes up for auction. The winner of the auction takes x time then submits the updated graphic. and so on, and so forth.
Ok, to clarify 'auction'. I only mean some means of choosing the individual to continue the graphice. I dont' know what the 'means' would be. So I call it an auction.
Perhaps, not even wait till the user finishes before auctioning the next slot. As soon as userA complets. It passes to userB AND goes to auction for slotC
Anyways, after seeing Rondas work, something like this really makes me want to see more kite art.

Hey Guys!
Just think what could happen if a real artist got involved. This is doodling. So, for now this is a call to all artist-want-to-be's (also known as doodlers) to get in here and have some fun!

I am no artist. Can't even doodle worth the napkin it is on. There is no spare sky, so I staked out my string of Gummi bears waaay out there in the field. Can you see them? Right above the zip code? The lifter kite is blocked by some of the other things in the air.

I use paint Shop Pro 7 for all my graphics. Some of you prefer Photo Shop, I know, but I have been using this program for about 5 years now and I am quite used to the software.
Here's how I did this.
I downloaded Knotronda’s image and then opened a copy of it in PSP, you can use Photoshop or your favourite graphics editor, I then added a new raster layer to this image and pasted a small thumbnail image of my line art on to this new layer. I then made copies of this line art and changed the colour of each one to create the colours of the rainbow.
I then drew a line connecting the line art and then flattened both layers to one layer after carefully positioning my new image layer.
I then copied the lifter kite that was already in the drawing and pasted it above my Kite Line of line art. I then changed the colours of the lifter to make it slightly different.
I then saved the lot and put it on line.
The whole process did not take more than 10 to 15 minutes of my time.
Ok back to the original idea.
I think for this to work we need to have a list of participants. This will ensure that only one person is working on it at the time. Otherwise it gets too complicated. This has already been talked about I believe.
I also think that we need to start with a rather large canvas to allow for a large number of participants. This could potentially get very big. Perhaps a registry where you can put your name on a list.
There is no reason why we can’t have more than one canvas going at the same time. I am thinking here of the calendar idea.
Each participant will be allowed to draw on it once only before they pass it on. There should also be a time limit set so that the next participant doesn’t have to wait too long.
Besides that, it would probably take too long for the project to end. I think what would help is that you prepare your artwork before your turn comes up.
A master copy should be kept in a particular place should things go wrong somewhere down the line. When I modify an image I always make a copy first and work on that, this is a good rule of thumb, as no matter what happens you will still have the original.
There are lots of ways to get your drawing onto the proposed canvas even if you are not skilled in computer-aided drawings. You could scan a hand draw image and let someone else place it on for you. This way everyone can participate even if his or her computer skills aren’t up to scratch. I am quite willing to help you out here.
Ok more on this later as I think about it some more.
