G'day.
I have a question. Do you pre-stretch your dacron line before you make your bridle lines?
Cheers,

Absolutely! Fresh off the roll, that stuff seems to stretch almost 10%!! Then you can feel it "set" at the proper length. Then roll it back up and make the bridle set.
I suppose it wouldn't really matter for making a bridle for a single kite, but I would have ben adjusting the lines in my stack bridles forever if I hadn't learned about pre-stretching the Dacron first. It's very stable after you do.

I normaly use either a Spectra Cored Dacron or cast off Rokkaku Battle line (which has been stretched in ardrous battle conditions) so I dont ususaly prestrech my lines..
But when I made the Edo kites I used line right off the spool, so YES I stretched them to make the fibers "Lock in".
I also do this to Spectra line that I use on my sport kites when I make up line sets... _________________ VR/

I think it was Marty who suggested this:
If you buy 'bulk' line, you can tie a SLK to the end and let it fly for a while - then ALL your line will be pre-stretched! _________________ Spence

So, I'm makeing a set of lines with 300lb Dacron and I realized that I do in fact pre-stretch the line. Actually, I stretch it while I measure it, mark it, and cut it.
I realized this when my bridle board broke due to the strain of 6 wraps of 300lb line

Just a little lighter touch here, might help.
Or a MUCH stronger bridle board.
Paul LaMasters makes his from 8" wide red oak boards!!!!!!!!! Heavy but they look good!!!!! _________________ VR/
