I just RE-stumbled upon an old article at kitelife.com by RICHARD GAREAU.
Richard was a very active kitebuilder several years ago... This info about needles and thread is a bit dated but still worth the read.... click HERE

And another RG article that discusses the sewing machine HERE

All,
Richard's discussion of neeles is a MUST read for anbody who sews a kite!!!!
Steve,
I looked at your online catalog and only see 6 entries in the thread section.
Do you have more colors/sizes/fibers than that and are just not listed?
BTW I use Dabond Polyester in size V33 in most of my kites. But it only is avaiable in Black and White. Size V45 which is the next size up in that line of thread is avaiable in several colors. _________________ VR/

Hi Stan, your right Rich is is or was into fighters big time. A few years ago Rich was a presenter at an MKS workshop . When I had heard he was going to do a workshop I was hoping it was going to be on Rok's. It turned out to be on fighter kites. Initialy I was disapointed, but later I was extremely happy. He is a super presenter ,very knowledgeable and a funny man. Tells great stories about traveling to foreign countrys flying fighters. Sorry to say he has vanished . No one seems to know where he is or what he's doing.

Richard said " My personal Pfaff, this is the cheapest model they make with the dual feed,
it has the same quality mechanism as their top of the line models, but no
bells and whistles. " but what was that model ??

Here's the picture of his machine. The picture name was pfaff60.jpg...
I have been unable to find any further information...
Here's the full size link.

I don't reconize the machine but a quick call to any Pfaff dealer and ask for the lowest priced machine with the IDF (Intagrated Dual Feed) that some people miss name a Dual Feed.
There is NOT a Pfaff dealer in my local area.... or I would make the call.
I could not find a dealer that posted prices on the web, so it must be Pfaff policy.... _________________ VR/

Richard is still around and occationaly dabs into kitebuilding. I last spoke to him in Sept 2004, he purchased a bunch of fabric for a Rokkaku he was building for some company. He resides in Laval, Canada. I will send an email to him today inviting him to join the forum.
The Fighter kite he is most famous for is the "Patang"
Lots of info on this kite in the rec.kite archives HERE _________________ Steve Ferrel

I use the incorrect name of walking foot on my Pfaff's which are reallyIDF. Oh well, no lightning has struck me, yet. _________________
