this category of the forum has been kinda quiet lately... just thought i'd show you two new fittings that were recently made for the Fabric Workshop Museum in Philadelphia:

These fitting are part of the "kite" that was discussed in the forums a few months ago HERE. The first two had holes drilled for the RET40 and the third was made for the RET610. Both fittings posed quite a challenge for the old man....

As soon as I get a good picture of the final project I will post it.

It kinda looks like a spinning top made from a block of nylon.

Can you show some more photos of the details of it?

Why is there what looks like a nylon bolt on top?

Thank Tony for us for machining parts for us!!!!!!!

Now if I could just convince MrsSquid that I NEED a CNC milling machine with 5 or more degrees of freedom, I would be set!!!!!!!

Actually the "bolt" is the bottom of the fitting. Picture #2 shows the fitting without the bolted on cone. The requirement of the fitting was that it had to be a pointed cone. Making it from two pieces was easier that from one.

Wow , almost forgot that you make custom fittings. The fittings section has been quiet. For the new Forum members , Steve has the capability to make plastic fittings that are non-standard. Sometimes you need a fitting that is not on the shelf , dont let that be a hinderance to your project. TELL Steve what you need. Chances are he can make it. ( well his pop can)

Steve:

From the picture you posted of the new fitting with the spars in place, it looks like it would also work as a steady mount for one of the new lightweight digital cameras! Or with a flat piece on top, a 32.5" high coffee cup holder!

Good winds...Charlie
