Please forgive the blatent Kite Studio advertisement, but I wanted to let everyone know about a fantastic new deal on some white rip-stop nylon.
Reguar price on this stuff is at least $6.75 per yard. But it is on sale between $2.50 - $4.00 depending on volume. Did he say two fifty?
NOW PAY ATTENTION
You can get this fabric for $2.49 per yard on any yardage NOW THROUGH JANUARY 30, 2005. On February 1 this offer will expire. To get this price, all you need to do is purchase it in our online catalog HERE and put your screen name and the following code in the comment section during checkout: FORUM DEAL #2005-1.0.
The low price will not be reflected in your total during checkout but I promise to adjust your price when the order gets to me (as long as you include the code!)
This is a great deal guys..... please help me move it quickly... _________________ Steve Ferrel

2.5 YEARS AGO???? And that was your last kite?? Squid, it is time for you to get building! lol The deck has got to be finished by now.....?!? Your sewing machine is probably rusty!
I doubt this is the same fabric, but i will put a sample in the mail to you today... Please let me know what you think.
As i am going through the first roll, i am realizing how very good this cloth really is -- top shelf stuff. It is great quality with a superior tear strength for a half ounce fabric. What a deal..... _________________ Steve Ferrel

Stevef,
Would that be strong enough for a big kite like a Maxi Dopero of a 60sqft flowform? _________________ Smarties

I just remembered that the special order was for some 0.4 Oz Nylon from Contender..... so as Rosanna Rosannadanna would say.... Never Mind...
I have built kites sense then but not out of that light weight of Nylon (and I probally will not make another out of that fabric again as I am shifting to mostly Polyester kites)
I gotta get this darn deck done....
I may dye some fabric for the MKS retreat... but I gotta get started tonight to get it done in time.... _________________ VR/

Squid said "I am shifting to mostly Polyester kites"
Saturday Night Fever Kites only?
Monty the disc Jocky, "I love that polyester look."
Harold "ya could have been a Contender"
Ok enough movie puns.

To give a serious answer....
Nylon is Hygroscopic while Polyester is Hydrophobic.
When Nylon gets wet it stretches more than when it is dry, so on a high humidity day Nylon kites sails will deform more than a polyester kite will.
Polyester hits the wallet much harder......
And I can't dance like Tony Manero did..... _________________ VR/

I saw the fabric that Steve has on sale , I'm here to tell you that it is fantastic stuff. Good coating ,nice white, fine warp and weft alignment and best of all it's cheap .I bought 25 yards and I dont even have a project in mind. Dont be hesitent to buy sight un- seen.

Smarties, if you reinforce properly, and you are building these kites for light winds, i would say yes. _________________ Steve Ferrel
