Well we were there, had a blast and now we're home. Here's a picture of some of the forum members who attended. right to left we have Rich, Scott and Rob with Ronda in the front. Already on his way home was Arnold. The kites in the picture are from some of the classes this year. The cellular is from Robert Brassington's class, this was a well taught class. This is the second class I have taken from Robert and they are great every time. The Della porte against the wall is from Scott's class which Ronda took and said good things about. and finally the flamed kite in front was the class that I taught based on a Baden Powell design. I think my class went well but I will leave that up to others who took the class to comment on it.

I believe that Scott made it for Seaside and donated it to the OKR raffle. He was balancing it on his head, he rejected the staple and nail gun options Smile

Also, Ronda had her knotty handerchief on. Yes, Rob's class was informative and do-able within the allotted time (if people didn't do much talking). Anyway, I'm glad I took the class and now I have another great kite to toss into the air.

You will also notice that Scott is playing with his beaver hand puppet. The Beaver is the mascot of the Oregon Kitemakers Retreat.

What a great weekend. The OKR committee does a great job. Thanks for all your hard work gang. The Friendship camp is an excellent intimate site and the food is fantastic. The food is so good, people buy their cookbook and give it the cooks at Fort Worden Rolling Eyes
The Freeman’s were nice enough to provide me with transportation and their daughter housed me before and after the retreat. Thanks to all. The trip back to Portland was beautiful. The night before, an ice storm, left a nice covering of icing on the trees. Just love the Oregon costal area.
On Monday I got together with Barb and Sam Write and went to see the Spruce Goose.
Amazing piece of work.
Dave Butler attended too. His wife had a great class on dying silk. I couldn’t make it but the finished projects were fantastic.
Rob’s class was presented well. So well I left for 2 hours to make a mini Cody kite with Bazzer. The plastic box didn’t make home in one piece. And the Cody was crushed. Good thing they came in three packs. Now I just have to make the other two. I didn't finish Rob's kite. Saw some ways to kick it up a notch. And the stuff I needed was at home.
A note on flying. Don’t take spray adhesive in your checked luggage. Three cans made it out there but on the return trip the PHX TSA gang confiscated my brand new can of Design Master spray tech.
Ronda impressed me by finishing not only my kite but Rob’s too.
This was my third time teaching at OKR and they just keep getting better.
As always, I learned a lot even in my class. Thanks to Anna Huston.
I’m looking forward to teaching again in 2007.

That's the great thing about being a teacher I had 11 people showing me what they can do with my class. Scott even shared some his ideas with me, pretty resourceful guy that Scott.
Probably one of the most interesting classes I took was a tricks and tips class taught Sunday Morning By Sam Huston and Ed Lindsay. Being able to pick these guy's brains was very useful. I would recommend a similar class be held once in awhile at all kite building functions get the local deans of kite making in your area and hold an open dicussion. All sorts of interesting stuff comes out in the way of making fittings, where to get the material and how little equipment is actually needed to do proto-types and one offs. I always come away jazzed up about kite making when I attend a kite making retreat.
