Sorry Prog that I have to dampen your enthusiasm somewhat about the Pac Rim Festival
First thing is that the kitemaking in question refers to the kitemaking tent where kids make their own kites under the guidance of volunteers, using precut sails, and spars that we have prepared. This is something we have at most festivals.
Secondly, there is no AKA sanctioned competition at this festival-but demos where anyone wishing to strut their stuff can do so. The sports kite competition, a part of the NWSKL schedule for 2004 will be held in Steveston, on July 24 &25.
For those of you who are interested; the Pac Rim Festival is held in Vanier Park in Vancouver-this park is located just West of the Burrard Bridge, and close by the Vancouver Museum, and Maritime Museum
The Steveston Sports Kite Competition is held at Gary Point in Steveston, a former fishing village now a part of Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver. Driving time from downtown Vancouver, about 30 minutes.
Any more questions, I'm the source... _________________ Don Lord |

Oh, it's the Steveston fest is the one I want then. And it is the weekend after the Pincher Creek Fest. Oh good. It all works as planned.
I might come out for the PacRim fest anyways though. I have to think about this a bit now.
Appreciate the info Don.

We made some fat fish designed by a club member last year. Barb, from MAKR saw it, and now it is being presented at MAKR this year. If you can get to MAKR at Oregon, IL (Just west of Chicago) it would be a great experience for any kite makers out there.
I presented a class there last year. It was a 4 ft Genki. Neat little kite. The kite is not my design, just my techniques in making it. |
