Well, a 50 pound spikey ball making a ground sweep will not even pause in contact with a 50 pound child. So be sure you have your display roped off and supervised by a well qualified person. (Yourself)

Very valid point, thank you Kiteguy.
Well, (depending on just how much fabric 50 pounds really is), I'm likely going to make a combination ball/tube display. Maybe what I'll do is add anchor points down it's length as well. That way it can be staked down all the way along. _________________ There is no box. |

Oh, and someone said they had found a source of parachutes for $135. Not much of a deal, as you can get parachutes from eBay for around $40. Less if you are lucky. _________________

Prog, Bob Serack build a 30ft soccer ball a few years ago and its very impressive. I believe he had some problems initially blowing out seams because of internal pressure. I know he had to do a little re-engineering
but now it works good.He ropes off a space around it to keep people out of it, because it makes a lot of pull.
He is now working on a world globe 50ft dia. I'll have to look up his web site, he had pictures of the work in progress

Oh, and this fabric is actually thinner and lighter then what I used on Crazy Spike. And much brighter colors too

P. from the info you supplied I'm guessing about 420 sq. yds. or 3780sq. ft. of fabric. A 20ft sphere has a surface area of 1257 sq. ft. A 30ft sphere has a surface area of 2828 sq. ft. Have fun.

That's the same estimate I came up with. approx 420 sq yards
Nice to get another one. Makes me think it's correct
Cheers,
