When I rock climbed a lot, one of the most secure, and uncomplicated knots we used was the water knot. Tie an overhand knot. Take the free end and loop it through whatever it is to which you want to attach the line. Bring the end back to the knot and trace it back through.

I have used that knot also for rock climbing. ( it works great in webbing.) I was warned though, that it is a bear of a knot to untie Confused
