HEREis a link to KITES ON ICE 2005. It's only a couple of months away I will be there and I know Mountain Man will be there. Anyone else going. Where are you staying?
If you haven't gone before, you should really think about it. Just dress warm and you will have a wonderful time. There is also lots of great stuff to see and do indoors .
HERE is a link to the lowest priced ice screws I have found in case you want to bring your own anchors.(Last year they had equipment problems and couldn't provide anchor holes for everybody ) I have ordered anchors from them and they were very friendly with fast service.

How can you dress warm when you are standing on ICE??? My favorite part of skiing was drinking Hot Buttered Rums in the Lounge as my friends fell down the mountain. Are there warming holes at this icy event? Do you seriously call this fun??

Hot Buttered Rum is good but it tends to make the kids sleepy |

Last year we used the strategy of setting up about 50 yds from the big warm tent selling hot chocolate and cookies out on the ice |

Say, Bernie, I am working on trying to get someone to go with me to Kites on Ice to help cut down on expenses. If I am unable to do so, would you be willing to bunk with an old fart?
We went to the nationals and had three of us shared one double room. I have an air mattress, and would be willing to snuggle down in a corner. We found the hotel room was the least used spot during the week we were at the convention. I will be driving, so if you guys fly in, we would have transportation when needed. _________________

Where to stay? Well, Madison really isn't that large of town, so just about anywhere will be good. And, there'll be kiters all over!! The real trick is finding parking close.
The warming house is otherwise known as the student union, good (and cheap) food, plus several sources for beer, after all this is Wisconsin! And, if you get really cold, just go in to visit the workshop weenies, you may get a chance to build some miniatures with Charlie Sotich or Glen Davison. Always something fun going on inside too.
Look for me on the field, with loads of line laundry.
